Overview
Trazyn the Infinite is a Necron overlord of the Nihilakh Dynasty and the galaxy's most obsessive collector. His Solemnace Galleries hold relics, weapons, captured heroes and whole battle scenes frozen in stasis, drawn from every age and species. He will cross the galaxy and start wars to secure a single artefact. Because he can move his consciousness into other Necron bodies when struck down, he is almost impossible to destroy permanently.
He carries the Empathic Obliterator, a staff whose blast spreads to everyone who shares the victim's role or loyalties, and uses mindshackle scarabs to bend captives to his will. When his body is destroyed, he simply transfers into a waiting surrogate, which makes every 'death' a minor inconvenience to him. Trazyn is Overlord of Solemnace and its self-appointed Archaeovist. He collects history: artefacts, relics and moments. The galleries of Solemnace hold technology that would make a Tech-priest kill his colleagues, and dioramas of famous events. Trazyn cannot truly be destroyed easily, because his consciousness can jump to any nearby Necron body of lesser rank. His long rivalry with Orikan and his obsession with the artefacts of Vulkan have drawn him into repeated wars with the Salamanders.
Origins
Trazyn was already an avid antiquarian among the living Necrontyr. Biotransference and the Great Sleep only sharpened his obsession. When he woke, he resumed curating his collection with tireless energy, treating the young races of the galaxy as sources of fascinating exhibits.
Key events
- Repelled an Imperial raid on Solemnace in 739.M41, keeping his galleries intact.
- Made repeated attempts to take the Spear of Vulkan, until he was finally defeated by Vulkan He'stan of the Salamanders in 878.M41.
- Made a second attempt on the Spear during the Tochran Crusade of 943.M41, claiming a relic called the Song of Entropy and drawing the Salamanders into a long war against him.
- Collected the Stygies VIII Tech-Priests who were scavenging for knowledge on Magogue in 991.M41, displaying them in stasis as a monument to the world's fall.
- Held Inquisitor Katarinya Greyfax in his collection, then released her and aided the Imperium during the 13th Black Crusade at Cadia.
- Once set a Genestealer on his rival Orikan and trapped him on Serenade in a time loop. Orikan was more than a century escaping.
Trazyn is far from welcome everywhere. On Thanatos, the Oruscar Dynasty's crownworld and home of the Celestial Orrery, he was greeted coldly, partly because the Oruscar Glyph of Dominance had disappeared during an earlier visit. He was allowed to use the Orrery only under the eyes of Oruscar Lychguard. His feud with Orikan is just as petty. To remove the Diviner as a rival for a tomb on Serenade, Trazyn released a Genestealer into its depths. Orikan survived, but the creature lived to become a Patriarch whose cult forced the Imperium to make Serenade a dead world. Among the exhibits he has woken to fight for him are a Vostroyan Firstborn regiment, Tanith snipers, Salamanders thought lost in the Klovian disaster and a lone Custodian. His collection also holds a twelve-metre Krork warboss from the War in Heaven and Brother Cassiel, a Blood Angel of the Deathwatch whose face is frozen in fear.
Battles & campaigns
- Infinite Enmity (878.M41): Vulkan He'stan defeated him in personal combat over the Spear of Vulkan.
- The Tochran Crusade (943.M41): His claim to hold the Song of Entropy sparked a decade-long war with the Salamanders.
- The 13th Black Crusade: The Bell of Saint Gerstahl threw his galleries into upheaval.
Personality
Trazyn is whimsical, vain and amoral, with a dry, eccentric humour. He is not cruel for its own sake. He simply sees living beings as potential exhibits, and his only real loyalty is to his collection. His long feud with Orikan is driven as much by intellectual rivalry and spite as by any real threat.

Legacy
Trazyn is the collector whose galleries hold history itself. His interventions are unpredictable: he has fought the Salamanders, added Mechanicus tech-priests to his exhibits, and helped the defenders of Cadia, all for the sake of his collection. He shows the Necrons at their most eccentric, an ancient intellect amusing itself with the younger races' wars. Trazyn's humour makes him popular. His collection makes him one of the most quietly horrifying beings in the galaxy.

Contested & retconned lore
Some sources place Ursarkar Creed among his exhibits after the fall of Cadia. Trazyn's tales of his own exploits are notoriously self-serving.
