The XX Legion of the twin Primarchs Alpharius and Omegon, masters of infiltration, deception and hidden agendas.
The Hydra's Head — Twin Primarchs, The Cabal & Pale Spear Dossier
Everything recorded about the XX Legion begins and ends with the phrase: 'I am Alpharius. This is a lie.' While Imperial records claim Alpharius was the twentieth and final Primarch discovered only decades before the Horus Heresy, Alpharius's own concealed memoir ('Head of the Hydra') reveals that his gestation pod never left Terra at all—landing inside the snows of the Himalayan plateau mere hours after the Scattering, where Malcador and the Emperor raised him in total secrecy inside the Imperial Palace as the 'Ghost Legion' before any other Primarch (even Horus) was found.
Only later did Alpharius locate his identical twin brother, Omegon, who shared a single split soul across two bodies. When the xenos 'Cabal' on Nurth showed the twins the 'Acuity'—a vision claiming that if Horus won, humanity would burn out in two generations and starve the Chaos Gods to death, whereas if the Emperor won, the Imperium would stagnate for 10,000 years before Chaos devoured everything—the twins ostensibly joined Horus while covertly sabotaging both sides from within.
Sub-Factions, Secret Orders & Classified Relics
- The Lernaean Terminators & Headhunter Kill-Teams — Elite 30k operatives armed with Volkite Chargers and 'Banestrike' bolt rounds specially engineered during the Great Crusade to shatter Space Marine ceramite.
- The Unsung, Shrouded Hand &Sons of the Hydra — Modern 40k Alpha Legion cells: some worship Chaos, while others (such as Occam the Untrue's 'Redacted') genuinely believe they are still loyal soldiers of the Emperor testing the Imperium's defences through attacks.
- Operative Conditioning Directives — Hypno-trigger code phrases ('Xenophon', 'Hydra Dominatus', 'Sagittary') implanted in millions of unwitting Imperial Guard troopers and PDF officers across the galaxy.
