In the blood-soaked gladiatorial arenas of the Wych Cults and the shadowy spires of the High Kabals, a Drukhari lord's status is measured by the artistry with which he slaughters his rivals. Two melee weapons stand above all others as badges of authority among Archons, Succubi and Haemonculi: the crackling, serpentine whip known as the Agoniser, and the ghostly, desiccating sword called the Huskblade.
An Agoniser is a long, multi-barbed lash or gauntlet wrapped in a shimmering, purple-white neural disruption field designed specifically to bypass physical armor and overload the central nervous system of any living creature—or even the bio-neural circuitry of a Tyranid monstrous creature or Wraithconstruct. A single flick of an Agoniser can drop a towering Ogryn or Carnifex to its knees in spasmodic torment.
Even more feared is the Huskblade, a masterwork weapon carried only by the wealthiest Archons of Commorragh. When a Huskblade pierces flesh, its hyper-dimensional field instantaneously evaporates every drop of liquid and cellular moisture inside the victim's body, reducing a mighty warlord to a crumbling statue of grey dust that shatters on the wind.
Design, mechanism & battlefield effect
The Agoniser operates by projecting a high-frequency neuro-disruptor field along a flexible monomolecular lash or articulated claw. Upon contact with a target, the field arcs directly into the victim's synapses and pain receptors, causing catastrophic neural feedback that ruptures blood vessels in the brain while keeping the victim excruciatingly conscious until the final heartbeat.
A Huskblade, by contrast, generates an entropic molecular-dissolution aura that breaks down hydrogen-oxygen bonds and cellular cohesion across the victim's entire organism in a fraction of a second, mummifying living tissue on contact.
Patterns, variants & doctrine
While Archons and Sybarites favour the whip-pattern Agoniser or the royal Huskblade, the Haemonculus Covens wield the Mindphase Gauntlet and Scissorhand, the Wych Cults dance with Hydra Gauntlets, Razorflails and Shardnets, and the armoured shrines of the Incubi carry the massive, two-handed Klaive and Demi-Klaive.
Across ten millennia of total war, the Agoniser & Huskblade (Melee Weapon) has spawned numerous classified sub-patterns and field modifications. While standard production runs prioritize logistical interchangeability across warzones, elite formations covet pre-Heresy or master-artificer marks featuring hand-lapped containment assemblies, psycho-conductive firing relays, and over-pressured propellant or energy cells. Captured examples modified by Hereteks, Ordo Xenos Deathwatch armourers, or Freebooter Mekboyz frequently bypass factory safety governors entirely, turning every activation into a calculated gamble between devastating lethality and catastrophic overload.
